Podcaster Who’s Who members can now earn money via their tip jars.

March 15, 2008

I interviewed most podcasters and have noticed a common desire to earn some money with their podcasts. Although few podcasters are only in it for the fun of podcasting in general, I find that a tip jar displayed on various pages of PodcasterWhosWho.com helps podcasters reach their goal of extending their money making opportunities as a podcaster in general.

Tip jars are common on most types of member related web sites, so why not a worldwide podcast network? It is simple as well. Any PodcasterWhosWho.com member can log in and add their Paypal email ID. As soon as they do, their tip jar will appear with a link to their Paypal Request Money screen and they will be ready to go.

Create Your Own Podcast Network

February 15, 2008

You are welcome to create your own podcast network. Other’s can join.

Why do I think you should create your own podcast network? Networking is one of the number one marketing strategies and banks on the “It’s not what you know, but who you know” concept.

Also, podcast networks allow podcasters with a common theme connect and market each other as a whole. From music, technology, sports, health, comedy, entertainment, and a large array of other topics, podcast networks will increase your subscribership, not make you compete with like podcasters.

Also, think about your single solo podcast. How much traffic is getting? Whatever the number, chances are that your podcast will get MORE subscribers from joining a network with a common theme to your own. Think if a podcast network as a bridge from one podcast with a common theme to the next.

I am yet to find any podcast network that charges for membership, so they are perfectly free to join. The Long Island Podcast Network comprises pdocasts from Long Island, New York. The Tech Podcast Network are technology related podcasters. There are also sports and music podcast networks if you just look on Google and Yahoo.

Email me if you belong to a podcast network. I want to hear about it.

My session at Podcamp Boston went well!

November 15, 2007

The weekend of October 28 was very productive as I arrived in Boston at around 1:00 PM on my Acela. I immediately went to the hotel, but was unaware of slow the mass transit system in Boston is. It took me a while to get the hang of their transit system.

Interestingly, I spent the day, that Friday, learning the city and took a one-hour tour cruise and some nice views of the city, went to Cheers (I am a fan of the TV show), and went to the party that night.

On Sunday, my session was at 9:00 AM and most of the attendees that said they were coming were asleep, but I made my session on forming a podcast network and spoke about podcast network marketing, selecting podcasts to be listed, making money, and legal aspects.

My session lasted about 50 minute. What was really cool was that Todd Cochran, CEO of Rawvoice Networks (Blubrry), attended my session. This was special because he was the author of my first podcasting book, The Do-It-Yourself Podcasting Guide.

The session was at the beautiful Boston Convention Center next to their train station. I met a lot of great people that weekend and went to a few parties, which was across the streen from Fenway Park, which weird enough, the Boston Redsox were away for that night’s game of the World Series.

 Thanks everyone for attending.

Podcasters can now review and rate other podcasters!

August 29, 2007

At 8:00 PM, EST, PodasterWhosWho.com released a brand new service where podcasters can review and rate other podcasters. Anybody visiting the PodcasterWhosWho.com web page of any member can add their opinion of the podcast as well as provide a rating from 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best).

It’s pretty easy too. Reviewers simply need to log into their PodcasterWhosWho.com web page, select any podcaster they enjoy, select a rating and finally type in their review. The reviewed podcaster simply gets an email asking him/her to log in and accept or delete the review. Any accepted reviews automatically show up on their member page.

Now, it does not stop there, because starting in the middle of September 2007, we will be displaying a listing of the highest rated podcasters. The podcasters with the highest ratings will appear first, getting more links and downloads to their podcast. How does this rating system work, you ask? It’s simple, but has four steps:

  • The number of reviews you receive for your podcaster

  • The podcasters with the highest rating score (the total of the 1 to 5 rating system)

  • The number of podcasts you review

  • The most recent reviews

That’s it. So, in other words, your highest score along with the highest AMOUNT of reviews, coupled with reviews that were submitted recently will have the highest ratings.

So, it makes sense to add your PodcasterWhosWho.com page to your web site, blog, and Myspace page, along with any other place where you get traffic.

We are also developing an API to provide you the benefit of listing your reviews on your web site and blog. We are also preparing an audio promo to tell people to review you on PodcasterWhosWho.com.

That’s it for now. You can always go onto the PodcasterWhosWho.com Google Group and ask people to review you as well or if you have questions.

Heal Yourself Talk Radio Now Uses The Podcast Page Maker

August 23, 2007

I had a conversion with Rebecca White, host of Heal Yourself Talk Radio, who signed up for PodcasterWhosWho.com, but did not visit the site in a while. She was surprised to find the Podcast Page Maker, a utility which I wrote that allows podcasters to give their podcasts to any web site. It opens a little section of anybody’s web page and displays links to their podcast, a GREAT marketing tool for any podcaster.

So, she surprised me and told me that the Podcast Page Maker would be on her web site in 10 minutes. We spoke on the phone for 15 minutes. So, by the time we hung up, it was there on http://www.healyourselftalk.com/. So, Rebecca, thanks for keeping your word :)

Heal Yourself Talk Radio is a podcast about balancing your life. So, if you have some unbalance to your life, listen to it and of course, click on her podcast links from Podcast Page Maker.

You can visit Heal Yourself Talk Radio at http://www.hotwebideas.com/gc/directory.php?op=details&u=healyourselftalk.

Information about Podcast Maker is at http://www.hotwebideas.com/gc/rssapidetails.php

Your Latest Twitter Comment now shows up on your PodcasterWhosWho.com Member page.

July 18, 2007

I have some good news for you Twitter fans out there. Now, if you log into your PodcasterWhosWho.com (PWW) web page and enter your Twitter ID, your latest Twitter comment will automatically show up on your PodcasterWhosWho.com member page.

How are we making this happen? We are using the Twitter API to interface with your Twitter page. This is a big step for PodcasterWhosWho.com members who are nuts about Twitter.

For those of you who do not know about Twitter, it is a simple social networking tool which allows you to enter comments of up to 140 characters. It seems that the social networking world has embraced it and meshed it with the Web 2.0 movement.

In addition to your latest comment showing up, we have a web page of just links to podcasters’ Twitter pages who are members of PWW. If you have your Twitter ID entered into your PWW member page and would not like it to show up on your PWW page, then simply log in and remove it.

I am very proud to offer this to PWW members!
